Phoon Class Guide — Nullscape

The Phoon class in Nullscape relies on high speed bursts and momentum. Learn how to master this momentum-based B-tier class with stats, builds, and tips.

Phoon

Tier: B · Speed: 8/10 · Difficulty: 5/10

The Phoon is Nullscape's momentum specialist — a class that rewards continuous movement with escalating speed and power. The longer you keep moving without stopping, the stronger you become. This snowball mechanic makes the Phoon exhilarating to play but punishing if you lose your momentum. It's a B-tier class that can feel S-tier in the right hands.

Overview

Unlike the Charger's instant dash, the Phoon builds speed gradually. Every second of continuous movement adds to a momentum counter that increases your speed, damage, and dodge chance. Stop moving, and the counter decays rapidly. This creates a high-risk, high-reward loop: the Phoon must constantly be on the move, threading through danger to maintain peak performance.

Abilities

Overdrive

Activate to instantly gain a burst of speed in your movement direction. Resets your momentum decay timer and provides a significant boost to your momentum counter.

  • Cooldown: ~7 seconds
  • Speed Boost: Large burst for ~1 second
  • Momentum Bonus: Instantly fills 50% of the momentum gauge
  • Scaling: Speed and momentum bonus increase with Velocity upgrades

Sonic Boom

At maximum momentum, press the secondary ability key to release a shockwave in all directions. Deals damage proportional to your current momentum and knocks enemies back.

  • Requirement: Momentum gauge must be full
  • Cooldown: ~12 seconds (resets momentum gauge)
  • Damage: Scales with momentum — devastating at full gauge
  • Effect: Full 360-degree knockback wave

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Potentially the fastest and hardest-hitting class at peak momentum
  • Sonic Boom is one of the strongest burst abilities in the game
  • Overdrive provides a reliable momentum reset tool
  • Extremely satisfying gameplay loop when everything clicks
  • Excels in large, open rooms with room to build speed

Cons

  • Loses power dramatically if momentum drops
  • Small rooms and tight corridors punish the Phoon's playstyle
  • Must constantly move, limiting strategic positioning options
  • Sonic Boom has a long cooldown and costs all your built momentum
  • Below-average survivability when momentum is low

Best Upgrade Synergies

  • Perpetual Motion — Momentum gauge decays 50% slower when you stop
  • Kinetic Charge — Overdrive cooldown reduced by 2 seconds and gains an additional charge
  • Gale Force — Sonic Boom deals 30% more damage and applies a slow to enemies hit
  • Speed Demon — Maximum momentum speed cap increased by 25%
  • Frictionless — Contact with walls and enemies no longer slows your momentum

Frictionless is arguably the Phoon's best upgrade since its biggest weakness is losing momentum to environmental contact.

Tips

  • Never stop moving. Even small movements — circle-strafing, back-and-forth juking — keep the momentum gauge from decaying.
  • Use Overdrive proactively rather than reactively. Building momentum takes time, and Overdrive shortcuts the process.
  • Save Sonic Boom for groups of enemies or boss damage phases. The momentum cost is too high to waste on single targets.
  • Avoid narrow corridors when possible. Wide-open rooms are the Phoon's natural habitat.
  • On floors with lots of hazards, consider rerouting through safer paths even if they're longer — maintaining momentum is worth more than a shorter route.
