Adrenaline

Adrenaline is an S-tier upgrade in Nullscape that grants a temporary speed boost when detected by enemies. Learn costs, synergies, and why it ranks among the best mobility upgrades.

Adrenaline

Adrenaline is one of the most powerful mobility upgrades available in the Nullscape Mart. When purchased, this upgrade grants your character a significant temporary speed boost the moment you are detected by any enemy within their aggro range. This burst of velocity can mean the difference between narrowly escaping a swarm of hostiles and taking a devastating hit that ends your run prematurely.

How It Works

The Adrenaline upgrade passively monitors enemy awareness states. As soon as any nearby enemy transitions into an alerted or chasing state, a speed multiplier is applied to your movement for a short duration. The boost activates automatically — no button input is required — which makes it incredibly forgiving during tense moments. The speed increase lasts approximately three to four seconds, giving you enough time to reposition, duck behind cover, or leap across a gap that would normally be unreachable at standard speed.

The activation cooldown is relatively short, meaning that if you break line of sight and then re-enter an enemy's detection radius, Adrenaline can trigger again. This makes it especially useful in levels with dense enemy populations where you are frequently moving in and out of aggro ranges.

Cost and Availability

Adrenaline is priced in the mid-to-high Sheckles range, reflecting its S-tier status. Expect to spend a significant portion of your early-run earnings to unlock it. It becomes available after completing a few prerequisite rooms and can be found in the Mart during most standard runs. Some players prioritize saving Sheckles on their first few runs specifically to afford Adrenaline as early as possible.

Tier Ranking: S

Adrenaline earns its S-tier ranking because of how universally useful it is across every biome and every stage of a run. Unlike map-specific upgrades that lose value in certain areas, Adrenaline provides consistent, reliable benefit wherever enemies are present — which is essentially everywhere in Nullscape. The automatic activation means it requires no skill floor to use effectively, yet the tactical repositioning possibilities reward highly skilled players who can chain enemy detections to maintain near-constant speed buffs.

Best Synergies

  • Double Jump: Combining Adrenaline's speed burst with a second jump lets you clear enormous gaps while being chased, making escape virtually guaranteed in most platforming sections.
  • Radar: Knowing where enemies are before they detect you lets you deliberately trigger Adrenaline on your terms rather than being caught off guard.
  • Panic Necklace: Both upgrades provide speed benefits, and stacking them creates an almost untouchable mobility profile during dangerous encounters.
  • Shield: If you do get hit despite the speed boost, Shield absorbs the damage, giving you another window for Adrenaline to proc and carry you to safety.

Tips

Use Adrenaline proactively. Skilled players will intentionally brush the edge of enemy detection cones to trigger the speed boost before a difficult platforming section, essentially using enemies as a free mobility resource. This technique is especially effective in the Frozen Caverns and Neon Undercity biomes where detection ranges are generous and escape routes are complex.
