Fanny Pack
Fanny Pack is a D-tier minor utility upgrade in Nullscape that grants one extra inventory slot. Learn when the additional storage is worthwhile, its cost, and how it compares to other upgrades.
Fanny Pack
Fanny Pack is a utility upgrade that grants your character one additional inventory slot. In Nullscape, inventory space limits the number of consumable items, temporary power-ups, and utility objects you can carry at once. The Fanny Pack expands this limit by one, giving you slightly more flexibility in how you manage your collected items.
How It Works
Your base inventory in Nullscape has a fixed number of slots. Each slot can hold one item — this includes consumable health potions, temporary buffs, keys for locked doors, bombs, and other pickup objects. When your inventory is full, you must either use or discard an existing item before you can pick up a new one. The Fanny Pack adds one additional slot to this limit, reducing the frequency with which you are forced to make these difficult inventory decisions.
The extra slot is most valuable in runs where you encounter a high density of pickup items or when you need to carry specific keys or tools for upcoming rooms. It can also be useful for hoarding healing items as a safety net for later, more difficult sections of the game.
Cost and Availability
Fanny Pack is priced in the very low Sheckles range, making it one of the cheapest upgrades in the Mart. It appears frequently in shop rotations and is often one of the few upgrades players can afford on their very first few runs when Sheckles are scarce.
Tier Ranking: D
Fanny Pack earns a D-tier ranking because the benefit of one extra inventory slot is marginal in the vast majority of runs. Most players do not regularly fill their base inventory to capacity, and when they do, the items they are carrying are usually not critical. The quality-of-life improvement is real but small, and the opportunity cost of using your upgrade slot on Fanny Pack instead of mobility, defense, or economy is significant. There are almost always better options available in the Mart.
Best Synergies
- Gift Magnet: Collecting more items with Gift Magnet means your inventory fills faster, making the extra slot from Fanny Pack slightly more relevant.
- Medal: Collecting bonus reward items at the end of runs may require inventory space that Fanny Pack provides.
- Paycheck: More Sheckles income means more Mart purchases, and some of those purchases may be inventory items that benefit from the extra slot.
- Radar: Identifying rooms with high item density lets you plan your inventory management and make the most of the extra slot.
Tips
Only purchase Fanny Pack if you have exhausted all other useful options in the Mart and have leftover Sheckles. Even at its low price, the slot upgrade is rarely the best use of your upgrade budget. New players might find it helpful while learning what items are worth carrying, but experienced players will almost always prefer to spend their Sheckles on upgrades that directly improve their combat, movement, or survivability.
