Double Jump
Double Jump is an S-tier upgrade in Nullscape that adds a second mid-air jump. Discover why it is considered essential for platforming, its cost, synergies, and advanced strategies.
Double Jump
Double Jump is widely regarded as the single most essential upgrade in all of Nullscape. It adds a second jump that can be performed while already airborne, fundamentally expanding your vertical mobility and opening up new paths through every biome in the game. For most players, Double Jump is the first major upgrade they save up for, and it remains relevant from the first room to the final boss.
How It Works
After purchasing Double Jump, pressing the jump button a second time while in mid-air executes an additional jump. This second jump resets your vertical momentum and launches you upward with slightly less force than a ground jump. The mechanic is simple and intuitive — there is no complex timing window or stamina cost to manage. You simply press jump twice.
The second jump can be used at any point during your airborne arc. You can use it immediately after leaving the ground for maximum height, or save it and use it at the peak of your first jump to extend horizontal distance. You can even use it after being knocked off a ledge by an enemy, converting what would be a fatal fall into a recovery opportunity.
Cost and Availability
Double Jump is moderately priced in Sheckles, making it accessible within the first two or three rooms of a typical run. It is one of the most consistently stocked items in the Mart, appearing in nearly every shop rotation. New players are strongly encouraged to purchase it as soon as they can afford it, as it dramatically reduces the difficulty of nearly every platforming challenge in the game.
Tier Ranking: S
The S-tier ranking is universally agreed upon by the Nullscape community. Double Jump is not just a convenience — it is a foundational mechanic that the game's level design implicitly expects you to have. Many optional rooms containing valuable Sheckles and rare items are gated behind gaps that require a double jump to clear. Without it, you are locked out of a significant portion of content. With it, the entire map opens up.
Best Synergies
- Adrenaline: Speed boost plus double jump creates the best escape tool in the game, letting you outrun and outmaneuver any pursuer.
- Grace Wings: Slowed falling plus double jump gives you incredible air control, essentially letting you fly across large portions of a room.
- Grapple Points: Use the second jump to reach grapple anchors that are placed high above standard jump range, then chain grapple movements for extreme traversal.
- Ninja Belt: Wall jump into double jump into wall jump creates a vertical climbing technique that can scale nearly any wall in the game.
Tips
Master the timing of your second jump. Using it too early wastes potential height, while using it too late means you are already falling fast and the boost feels minimal. Practice finding the sweet spot at the apex of your first jump for maximum horizontal distance. In speedrun contexts, Double Jump enables sequence breaks that skip entire rooms, making it indispensable for competitive play.
